2018 Energy Auctions for Wind Power Plants and Photovoltaics have been announced

Representatives of the wind and photovoltaic industry can already start their final preparations for energy sales auctions. The dates of these auctions have just been announced by the Energy Regulatory Office.

On 5 November 2018, there will be an auction for the sale of energy generated in new installations with an installed electricity capacity exceeding 1 MW, using only onshore wind energy. This event has been expected for a long time by the wind energy sector.

The maximum amount and value of electricity that can be sold at the auction by generators located in Poland amount to 45 million MWh and PLN 15,750 million

The reference price, i.e. the highest allowed offer value, for installations using only wind energy is PLN 350 per 1 MWh. It is planned that as a result of this auction, sales of electricity from facilities using only wind energy with the total capacity of 1,000 MW will be contracted.

On 12 November 2018, there will be an auction for new installations with installed electricity capacity not exceeding 1 MW using only onshore wind or solar energy. This auction arouses special interest in the photovoltaic industry.

The maximum amount and value of electricity that can be sold at the auction by generators located in Poland amount to 16 million MWh and PLN 6,243 million.  In this case, the reference price for a photovoltaic installation below 1 MW is up to PLN 420 per 1 MWh. The maximum total connection power of photovoltaic facilities with a capacity of up to 1 MW planned to be contracted will amount to 750 MW.

The President of the Energy Regulatory Office points out in particular that the offer submitted at the auction in 2018 is binding on an auction participant and may not be modified or withdrawn. According to the announcement, both auctions will be held through the IPA platform.

In addition to the said auctions, other auctions will be held on 7, 13, 14, 19 and 20 November 2018, in which hybrid facilities using agricultural biogas and co-combustion, will be eligible to participate.

BSJP lawyers will discuss the action results on the ongoing basis during the Windenergietage conference in Listnow, which will take place from 6 to 9 November 2018.
