UE Directive to introduce new rules on parental, child care and carers’ leave

The European Parliament and the Council of the European Union have reached agreement on the final version of the directive on work-life balance for parents and carers and repealing Council Directive 2010/18/EU (2017/0085 (COD)). The most significant changes include the introduction of an additional 5 days of care leave and flexible working arrangements for employees with children.

Attorney-at-law Mateusz Pergałowski, an expert in labour law, enumerates the most significant rules set out in the new EU directive.
